Cloud Cards - Printable

Last week the boys started their study on clouds. My oldest son will be doing a month long study of them as part of his Nature Studies. We are doing a cloud journal and will be observing clouds throughout the seasons.

I thought about a creative way to have on hand an easy portable method of having pictures of the different types of clouds for the boys when we do our observations. I came up making our own Field Guide Cloud cards.

Click on the thumbnail above to download this set of Cloud cards.

There are a total of seven pages shown in this set: Page one provides instructions and tips on how to use your cards and this set includes four pages of photos picturing different cloud types and two pages of the name and brief description of each cloud.

Print the sheets, cut and then laminate to make them more sturdy. Have young child play a matching game with each card and find its matching card. Preschoolers can play a guessing game by identifying the correct cloud card as the parent reads the brief description of each cloud.

For older children you can use these cards to make two a field guide card sets to use outdoors when trying to identify clouds for Nature Study. Simply glue image of cloud to card stock and glue name of cloud on back. Laminate and use a hole punch to make a hole and loop through a binder ring.

As you can see the front of our completed cards have the photo of a cloud type and on the back it has the name of the cloud type and a brief description of it that the boys can understand.

My sons love their Field Guide Cloud Cards and what's great is that we can hang their card sets on a small tote or backpack when we go outdoors. We have even taken them along in the car and the boys like using their cards to identify clouds!

I am always happy to share printables that I create.
